Software
Two software applications were purchased with the grant funds.
- Camtasia Studio 5 (for screencast and video editing)
Camtasia will be installed on the OWLS staff workstation and on the ‘Casting Kit laptop, as well as on a few other staff machines for the Library Services Manager, Automation Manager, and Electronic Resources Librarian. - ePodcast Producer (for podcast recording and editing)
This software will also be installed on the OWLS staff workstation and the ‘Casting Kit laptop, as well as on the Library Services Manager’s desktop.
I was aware of free options for software, like Audacity for one, but opted for trying out something that looked more robust with features to play with since we had the funds. ePodcast Producer has some cool features, like the ability to record and edit telephone interviews with built in Skype recording, an FTP client, and an on screen teleprompter. I’m eager to start playing with both of these programs to see what all they can do! I’ll probably also play with Windows Movie Maker, as it will already be on the staff workstation and laptop.
What’s your favorite software for podcast, screencast, and video production and editing? Post yours in the comments. ![]()
