More progress

I created and released two surveys, one for the public (open until January 21st) and one for OWLS directors (open until January 16th). So far there aren’t a huge number of responses, but I’ll still be interested to see how people respond. I’ll share the results here once the surveys are closed.
Today I finished up [...]

Wrapping things up

I went through the plan for this grant project to see what I still had left to do before the grant period is up. Not that projects will end once the grant period is over – I just want to make sure I take care of what I said I would do for the grant [...]

My Lists in InfoSoup

Another one bites the dust! Just made My Lists live in InfoSoup and created an accompanying screencast for our patrons’ and library staff members’ enjoyment. My Lists is a cool feature I think people will really like, and I think the screencast will go a long way in making it easier for people to start [...]

Forgot your PIN?

I just released a new feature on InfoSoup that will allow patrons to reset their PINs in case they forget them. I created a screencast demoing the “Forgot Your PIN?” feature, so it will be even easier for people to use. I’m loving being able to release something new in the OPAC with a companion [...]

Another one bites the dust

Just completed another screencast that I had started last week before the holiday weekend. This one is on Freezing Holds in InfoSoup. Now that I’ve done a few I feel like I’m getting the hang of what works and what doesn’t, and it’s starting to be a lot more fun. I have a list of [...]

Second screencast is up!

Yay. Progress at last. I’ve added our second InfoSoup screencast on Using Ratings In Infosoup to our blip.tv show. It was a bit easier this time, but still challenging. I’m thankful for all that I learned yesterday and am enjoying the process. I hope patrons find them helpful!

First screencast is up!

I spent the better part of yesterday creating a screencast for InfoSoup on how to use a new feature in the catalog called Community Reviews. After having Rick and Gerri take a look at it, I’ve made it public at our newly created InfoSoup show on blip.tv and Community Reviews is now available in InfoSoup [...]

Getting started with screencasting

I’ve been spending some time today learning more about screencasts and how to create them. I have added links to the ‘casting kit del.icio.us account, read some good articles, and watched some video tutorials on how to use Camtasia (the screencasting software we purchased with some of the grant funds). After doing all this, I [...]

Welcome to ‘Casting @ OWLS

I created this blog to have a place to track my progress on a 2008 LSTA grant funded project entitled “Enhancing Library Services via Podcasts, Screencasts, and Vodcasts.” I also wanted a place to link to other information I’m gathering for the project, as well as photos I’ll be taking of all of the equipment [...]
